Sync For All: The development of CLX, an open protocol for show driving

Live show timing has largely depended on proprietary software such as ShowKontrol or rigid DAW sessions, limiting interoperability. We present Clockworks, a software-agnostic toolkit for generating and synchronizing LTC, MTC, and ArtNet Timecode from diverse DJ and performance environments. During its development, the need for an extensible, open standard became clear, leading to CLX—a lightweight protocol designed for seamless integration on any UDP-capable platform. This talk will detail the system architecture, protocol design considerations, and the technical path from concept to implementation.
